Francis Ngannou, the current UFC heavyweight champion, received "The Best Local Champion Award" trophy from Las Vegas Weekly magazine. This award is awarded annually to sportsmen who have distinguished themselves in their sport, typically in contests held in Las Vegas.
Francis Ngannou, who is originally from Cameroon, relocated to Paris, France, where he attended the MMA Factory from 2013 to 2018. Then, in 2018, he relocated to Las Vegas and started dividing his time between MMA Factory in Paris and Xtreme Couture in Vegas.
The Paris-based MMA Factory was eventually fully abandoned by the Batié native, who then started training full-time at Xtreme Couture in 2019. Ngannou mostly works out at Xtreme Couture with head coach Eric Nickick, while he also trains at the UFC PI (Performance Institute) in Las Vegas.
