Several sustained injuries in Mile-40 road accident | + Video (viewer discretion)

A head-on collision between two private small cars coming from opposite directions at Mile-40 along the Kumba-Buea stretch of road on Thursday 16th June 2022 left some of the occupants of two cars seriously wounded. The injuries sustained necessitated rapid evacuation from the accident site to a nearby health center for treatment.

One of the cars involved in the accident was from Fako Division, heading to Kumba, while the other was from Kumba heading towards Fako.

According to one of the occupants, who emerged unscathed, the other car from Fako Division lost control and bumped into their own car. Although the impact of the collision was serious, there was no loss of life.

The Mile-40 stretch along the Kumba-Buea road is a locality famous for the cultivation of yams and the production of cassava starch.

The Kumba-Buea stretch of road has recently recorded several road accidents. Most of these accidents are reported to be caused by overspeeding in fear of being intercepted by the separatists and bandits.

The insecurity along this particular stretch has become alarming so much so that some indigenes of this area have been unable to visit their parents and relatives for the past five years.

Initially inhabited by mostly Nigerians, mile-40 is now a shadow of itself. It has been deserted because of the ongoing Anglophone crisis.

One of the vehicles involved in the accident carried two "men of God," whose names BiVoundi 24 News gathered as Brother Alfred and Evangelist Ambo

We learned that one of the preachers was a foreigner from a neighboring African country although this has not been independently confirmed.
