Released Catholic Priests begin "thank you" trip to SWR

The recently released priests, who were abducted by unknown gunmen from St. Mary's Catholic Church Nchang Manyu division, Southwest Region, Saturday 29th October 2022, started off to visit some Catholic Parishes in the South West Region to say "thank you for your prayers" and to solicit for funds for treatment abroad we have been reliably informed.

The first stop of the priests (without the nun and laities) was the Catholic Diocese of Kumba, where the group met with Bishop Agapitus Nfon and the other priests in the Diocese.


According to our source, who was part of the meeting, the released priests informed Bishop Agapitus Nfon that they were visiting the South West to say thank you to their fellow brethren who stood by them in their ordeal and to source funds for possible medical treatment abroad.

The priests also narrated their ordeal in the hands of the kidnappers, and how they were released. They also informed Bishop Agapitus, that they were kidnapped from Nchang and taken across the border to Nigeria.


The priests later left for Buea. The duration of their stay in the South West Region was not disclosed, and whether they will meet with the secular administrative authorities.


The Nchang Catholic Priests were kidnapped on Thursday, September 16, and regained their freedom a month after.
