Obituary: artist Nkodo Sitony will be laid to rest on the 23rd of April 2022

Nkodo Sitony (real name: Tobie François Nkodo Si) will undoubtedly be remembered and classified among the greatest Cameroon musicians of all time. He is credited for bringing electronic beats into African folk music and his rhythms remain to this day the crown jewel of authentic bikutsi.
Sitony, born on the 25th of August 1959 was a popular singer of the bikutsi genre in the 1980s and 90s and worked alongside Mongo Faya. He died at the Central Hospital of Yaoundé on 21 December 2021, at the age of 62 as a result of illness.
According to the funeral program, the body will be removed from the mortuary for viewing this Thursday, April 21 at 11:00 am at the Central Hospital of Yaoundé.
Nkodo Sitony will be buried on Saturday, April 23 in his native village of Ka'a. But from this Thursday, the funeral begins with the lifting of the body at 11 am at the Central Hospital of Yaoundé followed by a religious service at the Basilica of Mvolyé at 12:30 pm. From 8 pm, the great artistic vigil will take place at the Palais des Sports in Yaoundé.
