NW: Separatist fighters step up checks on vehicles using CEMAC number plates

Separatists operating in the Northwest Region of the Country have stepped up checks on vehicles plying the Matazem-Santa Bamenda road carrying the CEMAC number plates we have gathered.

The separatists' action comes despite a recent communique issued by the Governor of the Northwest Region banning the circulation of vehicles in the region without the CEMAC number plates.

The Northwest Governor's communique, we observe was issued on 15th June 2022.

We have further gathered that owners of vehicles with CEMAC number plates risked being killed, maimed, or their vehicles being destroyed.

Most vehicle owners now carry their CEMAC number plates inside their vehicles and produce them upon request by the forces of law and order.

All Central African countries use the CEMAC number plates.
