Northwest: Prominent Muslim scholar, Abdulkarim, Arrested

Prominent Muslim scholar, Abdulkarim Ali, based in the Northwest Region has been arrested by the military we have been informed.

Abdulkarim Ali, we gathered was arrested yesterday Thursday 11th August 2022 by the military around the hours of 6.30 pm.

He was taken away in an armored car to the barracks called "(Groupement) Upstation" Bamenda Town we have further gathered.

We have further been informed that the military has declined all contact with his family.

Abdulkarim Ali, is an acerbic critic of human rights violations of the regime in Yaounde, especially within the context of the ongoing Anglophone crisis.

He has been detained severally by the authorities in power due to his uncompromising stance against the regime.

He was picked up and detained in Yaounde over a year ago when he returned home from Switzerland.
