Mali gives foreign forces 72 hours to leave a base at Bamako airport

Updated: Aug 5, 2022

According to Afrik.com, Mali has given all international forces stationed at Bamako airport a 72-hour deadline to vacate the base they now occupy, which has acted as a logistics hub for foreign troops, including those of the UN mission.

In a letter to Sahel Aviation Services (SAS), the airport authorities of Mali requested that all foreign personnel stationed at the company's base within the Bamako airport property vacate the area within three days. According to AFP, Mali believes that having foreign military forces stay and be welcomed on this site puts the nation's "internal and external security" at risk.
