KUMBA inundated by flood waters

The denizens of certain quarters in Kumba, Meme Division, Southwest Region, are still reeling from the negative effects of the heavy rains of a few days ago causing huge material and financial damage to the population.

Apart from impeding movements, inundated houses destroyed crops, swept away wooden bridges and rerouting movements.

The principal stream of the town, known as "Kumba water" and other streams overflowed their banks spilling debris all over the neighborhood.

Some of the affected quarters include Malabo in Kumba 1, "backside school"confidence street in Kumba 2, and Nkamalikum in Kumba 1, where a public school building was almost submerged forcing the Meme administration to visit the school.

Even as we write, the flood water is still to recede in certain quarters considered low-lying terrain. Early this year, meteorologists had predicted they would be floods caused by heavy rains in some parts of the country, like Douala, and Limbe, and they went to advise persons in these areas to evacuate, or to start looking for alternative accommodations.
