KONYE: DO urges parents to send children to school

The Divisional Officer of Konye, Meme Division, Southwest Region, has appealed to parents and other education stakeholders to ensure effective school resumption in the subdivision, come the 2022/2023 academic year.

Ata Moses Ndep made this appeal yesterday at the Conference Hall of the Kumba 1 council while launching the 2022/2023 academic year.

In the meeting, attended by Chiefs, parents, headteachers, and principals of schools in the area, the DO reminded the population that the academic year is already at hand and that parents and the community at large should do everything possible that the academic year kicks off hitch-free, especially given calm and normalcy is gradually returning to the subdivision.

Among the recommendation for a hitch-free academic year, parents were urged to assist tidy the premises of schools and to plead to their children who have taken up arms against the government to drop them.

BiVoundi 24 News recalls that this same meeting took place last at the same venue and came out with similar resolutions. In the end, there was no effective school resumption.

We also note that due to insecurity in the subdivision, all government and council activities have been transferred to the Meme SDO's office.

We also curiously observe that the meeting is coming at the time colonel Eyenga was killed in an exchange of fire between the separatists and the military on Tuesday 26th July 2022.

In retaliation, we further gathered the military raided Ngolo-bolo and Kokaka.

Some persons were allegedly shot dead by the military, some were arrested and some houses were equally burnt.

Even as we write some persons who fled military atrocities are still in the bushes
