Heavy rains cause landslides in some parts of Southwest



Some parts of the Southwest Region, are currently suffering from the effects of landslides and floods as the result of the heavy rains of yesterday, Thursday 11th August 2022.

The heavy rains reportedly resulted in landslides that cut off a substantial part of the Mamfe-Bamenda that paralyzed movements along this busy street of road.

In Alou and Lewoh in Lebialem, the floods swept away some portions in these two villages we have been informed.


At least four or five persons lost their lives.

Landslides and floods have become in some parts of the South West Region, since the beginning of this year.



Last month heavy rains caused floods in some parts of the Fako Division, notably; Tiko, Likomba, Mutengene, and Limbe.


We observe that early this year, metrologists warned of impending floods, landslides, and waterborne diseases in some parts of the country, including the Southwest Region.
