Government to construct 30 schools in NW/SW - Minister Paul Tasong

The Minister Delegate in the ministry of the Economy, Planning, and Regional Development has disclosed that the government will in the framework of the reconstruction of the Northwest and Southwest regions, construct 30 schools in these two Regions.

Minister Paul Tasong, who is also head of the presidential plan for the reconstruction of the Northwest and Southwest regions, was responding to questions from some members of parliament on 8 July 2022.

In the question and answer session, Paul Tasong disclosed that the government set aside CFA 89bn for the reconstruction exercise, adding that so far only CFA 11 billion has been successfully collected.

He further observed that 30 schools in the South West and Northwest Regions would be constructed within the framework of that project without giving a specific timetable.

BiVoundi 24 News recalls that when the Presidential plan for the reconstruction of the Northwest and Southwest regions was launched in 2020, Paul Tassong visited all the Regional headquarters. He was in Buea on 3rd July that same year.

We also note that the United Nations and other International Organizations did not agree with the Government reconstruction plan arguing that reconstruction cannot take place while the war was still going on.

The Government insisted on going on with the plan, which later died down only to come up again in parliament last Friday.
