'Global Mercy Ship': Cameroon's Minister of Public Health will represent President Paul Biya



In a correspondence addressed to the minister of public health, the minister of state, secretary-general at the presidency of Cameroon informs the minister that, on instructions from the head of state, he will be attending the inaugural ceremony of the "Global Mercy Ship" in Dakar, Senegal.


A welcoming ceremony for the hospital ship will take place at Mole 1 of the port of Dakar in the presence of an audience including several personalities such as Serigne Gaye, Minister, Advisor to the President of Senegal, and the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Health and Social Action, Alassane Mbengue. In Senegal, about 1,000 people will be operated on for various illnesses by the medical staff of the hospital ship, which will provide training to about 700 Senegalese health professionals.

After its inauguration, the Global Mercy will stay in Senegal for some time before leaving again, and then return to Dakar and stay there for most of 2023.


It should be noted that Mercy Ships arrived for the very first time in the Republic of Cameroon for its 10-month humanitarian mission in August 2017.
