Doctors without Borders to shut down bases in Kumba and Mamfe

The international medical non Governmental Organization known as Doctors without Borders has announced the closure of its bases in Mamfe in the Manyu division and Kumba in Meme Division beginning 1st August 2022.

The DWB's decision to close its bases in these two areas was contained in a release addressed to the South West Regional Delegate of Health Dr. Eko Filibert and also copied the other health institutions where DWB had been operating.

DWB further explained that it was taking this painful decision due to the non-release of its four colleagues held in detention since December 2021 and January 2022.

The release further states that despite the organization's unwavering commitment to providing health "the present situation makes it impossible to hope for the resumption of work in the near future", adding the organization will maintain its liaison office in Buea to support its fellow colleagues in prison.

The release was signed by Denis Habasa, the deputy emergency coordinator of the South West Region.
