Cross River Bridge between Nigeria and Cameroon to be inaugurated today



The Cross River Bridge linking Cameroon and Nigeria will be inaugurated today, Thursday 3rd November 2022 BiVoundi 24 News has learned.


The Infrastructure was completed about a year ago in Eyumojock, Manyu Division, Southwest Region.


The Cameroon minister of Public Works, Emmanuel Nganou Njoumessi, and his Nigerian counterpart, will represent their various governments in the official ceremony.


The project, we further gathered, has swallowed more than CFAF 21 billion. According to the Cameroon minister of Public Works, Cameroon and Nigeria received assistance from the African Development Bank and the European Union.


The investment was made as part of the Transport Facilitation program on the Bamenda-Mamfe-Abakaliki-Enugu corridor that integrates the Lagos -Mombassa Trans-African.


The inauguration and use of this new infrastructure will be expected to revive trade between Cameroon and Nigeria.


The trade volume between the two countries dropped by 81% from CFAF 15.6 billion to CFAF2.9 billion in 2015-2019, due to the Anglophone crisis.
