Cameroon to boost wheat production amidst the global crisis

Updated: Jan 1

Ten billion CFA francs have been allocated by President Paul Biya for the growth and production of wheat.

According to a statement made on national radio on Monday, the president endowed the Institute of Agricultural Research for Development (IRAD) with ten billion CFA francs (about 15.3 million dollars) for the growth and development of wheat. It is anticipated that this funding will be applied to the development of regional processing facilities and the manufacture of high-quality seeds.

The financial contribution from the president of Cameroon is dispersed across four installments until 2026, according to the news agency Xinhua. Be aware that the funding will be used to put IRAD's many years of research to use rather than to start new projects.
