Cameroon celebrates its National Day at Expo 2020 Dubai

WAM | During Cameroon's National Day celebrations at Expo 2020 Dubai on Saturday, the country expressed its aim of being a sustainable country with wide potential (12th March).

Iya Tidjani, Ambassador of Cameroon to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, was welcomed by Najeeb Mohammed Al Ali, Executive Director, Commissioner General's Office, Expo 2020 Dubai.

"Cameroon's participation highlights the country's efforts to combat climate change in the agribusiness sector and promotes the numerous investment opportunities available in various industries, such as manufacturing and tourism," Al Ali added.

"We value our growing relationship with Cameroon and hope to deepen our cooperation in areas of mutual interest, such as attracting foreign direct investment, infrastructure, and agricultural innovations, for the benefit and well-being of our people."

"Cameroon's involvement in this significant event, Expo 2020 Dubai, cannot be overemphasized," Iya Tidjani remarked. Expo 2020 Dubai's general theme, 'Connecting Minds, Creating the Future,' and Cameroon's chosen theme, 'Africa in miniature,' are both ideally aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals that we aspire to fulfill by 2030."

The UAE and Cameroon flags were raised at the National Day Ceremony at Al Wasl Plaza, followed by the playing of both countries' national anthems. The lectures were followed by a spectacular cultural performance on the Stage of Nations by the Cameroon National Ballet.

The concert included dance, traditional music, and vibrant costumes, as well as a strong message about the significance of policies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, which cause global warming and exacerbate natural disasters.

The Cameroon Pavilion, located in the Opportunity District, welcomes visitors to experience "Africa in miniature" by learning about the country's geographical, cultural, and human variety, as well as its efforts to create a more sustainable future. Roger Milla, a great Cameroonian international football player, was one of the pavilion's previous high-profile guests.
