Buea: lmam urges Muslim faithful to follow the footsteps of Prophet Abraham

The lmam of the Buea central mosque has urged the Muslim faithful to follow in the footsteps of father Abraham by being patient and enduring in life.

Alhaji Mohammed Aboubakar was speaking on the occasion of the celebration marking the feast of the ram that took place on Saturday 9th July 2022.

In his sermon at the Buea central mosque, the lmam reminded Muslims faithful about the story of Prophet Abraham who was married to Sarah and lived without a child but remained patient and believed the promise made by God to bless him with a child, adding that this patience and endurance paid off with the birth of Ishmael at an advanced age.

The lmam also elaborated on how God tested Abraham's faith by asking him to sacrifice his son Ishmael.

Speaking on the significance of the act of slaughtering a ram at the feast of the ram, said Abraham was asked to sacrifice Ishmael but it was replaced by a ram adding that the feast cannot be commemorated without a ram which from that day became a legacy.

He also explained that the ram is being slaughtered into three parts some going to family members and some to the poor and needy.

This year's feast of the ram was witnessed by the Secretary-General of the Southwest Governor's office Gilbert Acha Nkwenti, the Mayor of Buea, David Mafany Namange, and Bishop Michael Bibi
