Breaking: FECAFOOT announces 400.000 FCFA minimum salary per player in local championship by 2025

The announcement was made on June 25 during a session designed to instruct Cameroonian sports journalists on how the Cameroon Football Federation will henceforth operate (Fecafoot).

The number of clubs competing in the Elite divisions 1 and 2 are under review by the Cameroon Football Federation (Fecafoot). The top soccer body in Cameroon intends to start a competition with 16 clubs by 2025.

A statement was made by Franck Happi, the former leader of the Union Sportive de Douala and the Director of Football Development for Fecafoot in this regard.

"After a transitional season with 38 clubs (MTN Elite one and Elite two), FECAFOOT wants to lead to the organization of a championship with 16 teams by 2025. Minimum salary of a player: 400,000 FCFA in 2025. The clubs will have to respect a schedule of conditions. They will benefit from the support of FECAFOOT initially. Eventually, they must adopt a viable economic model, in order to become financially autonomous," said Franck Happi.
