Algeria CHAN 2023: Morocco Reportedly Declares Absent

The national soccer squad will not be competing in the 7e edition of the CHAN, according to the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF). The Moroccan soccer authorities cited a logistical issue with the Atlas Lions' transportation as justification for this forfeit.

The national team must fly directly from Rabat to Constantine, the location of the Moroccan Games, on a plane operated by Royal Air Maroc (RAM), the designated airline of national teams, per a request made by the sports authorities.

Following the political difficulties between the two nations, CAF insisted that the host nation allow its airspace to the Moroccan national team, but the host government refused. Therefore, the reigning African champion would not defend its title in the following CHAN.
