Ahead of Macron's visit, hundreds arrested in Kumba; several bikes seized

Hundreds of anglophones, especially youths, residents of Kosala, Kumba 2 subdivision, are today, Sunday 23rd July 2022 spending the second day at various police detention cells in Kumba following a massive arrest on Saturday by a mixed security unit.

Motorbikes; especially commercial motorbikes, and push trucks were carted away by the security forces.

No reason has been advanced for the massive arrests but it is predicted on the visit of the French President, Emmanuel Macron to Cameroon.

BiVoundi 24 News recalls that on the eve of the last AFCONS games in Cameroon, the police arrested several people in Kumba.

How long these persons will stay in police detention remains unknown, but perhaps after President Macron leaves Cameroon.
